Jawbone
Synopsis
Jawbone is a straight-up, gruesome, female-driven horror flick. LISA recently lost her husband to illness and her young son in a car crash. In the horrific aftermath of the crash with her son, Lisa is given a Stick Man--a figure molded of dirt and grass and roots in the shape of a man--handed to her by the dying driver of the car she collided with. The loss of her son sends her over the edge. She thinks she's losing her mind, but we know that the Stick Man is working on her as well as her grief. She's drawn deeper and deeper into her own madness, and teeters on the brink
of suicide. It's then that the secret of Jawbone is revealed to her.
ALBERT COOK, "Jawbone," was born with a black soul. He satisfies his blood lust by picking up "hitchers" on the highway and taking them back to his house. There, in the basement, behind the blood Red Door, he does unspeakable evil. But then he picks up mother/son hitchers and finds himself trapped within the Stick Man by magic as dark as his own heart. Not living and not dead, he remains in limbo as long as the Stick Man is held by a living person. But Jawbone is not without power. He acts on the one in possession of the Stick Man, driving them to suicide in the hopes of setting himself free. His countless victims want to be set free into death, but can't move on until Jawbone is no longer tethered between worlds. These "undead" victims need Jawbone's freedom to find their peace in the afterlife and work with Jawbone to "unleash" the Stick Man from its owner.
Lisa comes to believe that if Jawbone can reach into her world and drive her mad, then perhaps he can reach into the world beyond and find her husband and son. Maybe Jawbone can be the bridge that allows her family to cross back to her. Her madness suggests this to her. Lisa, in desperation, travels with the 3 x 5 inch Stick Man to the small town where Jawbone lived as the man Albert Cook. She finds the house. And the basement. And the Red Door. There, she seeks to make a deal with evil...the Stick Man, her only hope for salvation.
